The Farmers' Daughter is a North Carolina Farm Fresh Certified Roadside Farm Market in Taylorsville, NC. We specialize in providing the freshest produce to our customers. All of our produce is either grown on-site or by local growers. Our definition of local is within 50 miles of our stand. This way if we don't grow it, we can still guarantee its freshness. We also make our own homemade pies, preserves, salsa, and pickles in an attempt to make the most of our extra produce.
Our vegetables and fruit include: lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, radishes, spring onions, sweet peas, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, sweet corn, crowder peas, onions, potatoes, October beans, collard greens, turnips, sweet potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries. We also sell locally grown: apples, peaches, blueberries, honey, and molasses.
We use a selective spray regemine, that helps us reduce the use of pesticides and increase the use of beneficial insects. We utilize plastic mulch and drip irrigation to suppress weeds, retain soil moisture, and maintain soil temperature. We are careful of what pesticides we use, because we have our next generation to worry about. Lily turned 2 years old in November and Max was born on August 27th. They will be right beside us in the garden this year and into everything.
We are currently closed for the winter. We will have a 2010 Grand Opening around the second Saturday in May. We are growing strawberries for the first time ever and our Grand Opening date is Dependant upon when the berries will be ripe.
